We invite you to join us for a new season of excellent classical music, to be held at The

Yukon Arts Centre in Whitehorse, Yukon.

The season begins on Saturday, September 19, 2015 with soprano Sarah Jo Kirsch and pianist Madeline Hildebrand from Winnipeg. These talented artists are well known on the Manitoba classical scene and are really looking forward to their first trip

to the Yukon. Ms. Kirsch and Ms. Hildebrand present a program that is cohesive, accessible, and engaging.

On Saturday, October 17, 2015, we present the piano chamber quintet Ensemble Vivant, from Toronto. Led by pianist and musical director Catherine Wilson, this group demonstrating their love of ‘great music without boundaries’ with a repertoire that includes works from classical and Latin composers such as J.S. Bach and Astor Piazzolla.

On Friday, October 30, 2015 the Ashu Duo*** of soprano and piano graces our stage. This concert is re-scheduled from our 2014-15 season when Ashu had to cancel due to illness. Chicago based classical saxophonist Ashu will be joined by award winning pianist Alexandre Moutouzkine for an evening of re-imagined classical works by composers such as Ennio Morricone and Heitor Villa-Lobos.

***Note: This concert was cancelled in the 2014-15 season, we are pleased be able to re-schedule it in our current season. Tickets for this show are not included our 2015-16 subscription series.

Saturday, November 14, 2015 will see a concert from the Mercer-Park Duo. This exciting duo, cellist Rachel Mercer and pianist Angela Park, has delighted audiences across North America with their passionately committed performances and “dazzling blaze of virtuoso musicianship.” Exploring a wide range of repertoire, from the standards of Beethoven and Brahms, through the romantics and the 20th century, to the music of this current generation, the duo tells a story from the stage.

On Saturday, January 16, 2016 we host Acclarion, an accordion and clarinet duo. Uncompromising in their quest for musical excellence, this husband and wife duo of accordionist David Carovillano and clarinetist Rebecca Sajo-Carovillano has presented captivating concerts since 2003. Drawing from a wealth of inspiration, Acclarion has compiled an extensive body of living repertoire with music for audiences of all ages and musical taste. Acclarion’s third CD “Shattered Expectations” will be available in the summer of 2015 and David is composing new works for Acclarion with orchestra and string quartet.

Saturday, March 5, 2016 is your chance to catch Solo pianist Ronée Boyce. Ms. Boyce possesses a dedication to performance and education that is steadfast and unquestioned. She is quickly establishing herself as an artist of intense musical sensibility and has been enthusiastically praised for her great depth of musical interpretation. Her piano repertoire includes works from Samuel Barber, Edvard Grieg and Franz Lizst.

The final concert in our 2015-16 season takes place on Saturday, April 9, 2016. We are very pleased to present the Vancouver based violin and guitar duo: Duo Rendezvous. We are thrilled to welcome violinist Jasper Wood and guitarist Daniel Bolshoy back to Whitehorse. Both of these charismatic virtuosi have performed for Whitehorse Concerts in past seasons, but this will be their first appearance as Duo Rendezvous. Their unique programming enriches the existing guitar and violin repertoire with transcriptions of masterpieces from around the world and newly commissioned pieces by leading Canadian composers.
